History of Canduman National High School


Canduman National High School was formally established in the year 1981, through the efforts of the Barangay Councils of Canduman, Casili, and Cubacub. The founding was with the support of the parents of the first year students of the school year 1981-1982.

Hon. Magno Dionson, City Councilor, passed a resolution to the city council instituting a creation of a high school in the barangay, making him the “Father and the Mentor of Canduman National High School”.

The approval of the application for the opening of the first year level of Canduman National High School for school year 1981-1982 was made effective on August 21, 1981 by Deputy Minister Abraham Felipe.

The school was manned by four personnel during its first year of operation. Mrs. Manuela Guanzon, assistant principal, Mrs. Virginia Mendoza, high school coordinator, Mrs. Editha Cinco and Mrs. Carmelita Mendoza, secondary teachers.

On its first year until 1993, the school is integrated with the elementary. Both departments had only 1 principal for 10 years. The separation was made 1993 with Mrs. Rosario F. Casilagan as principal for the high school department.

Helms of history rolled, reshuffling of school heads made way for Dr. Fay Luarez to charge administrative recitals beginning school year 2002 and was then replaced by Mrs. Nimfa D. Bongo and most recently, Mrs. Arlina Y. Amante.

Student population increases each year and such fact made it impossible for the school to accommodate the enrollees that is reason why makeshift classrooms are built for temporary shelters. But then competitive learning experiences continue.
